It's not about how the community looks at you, but how your Lodge looks out into your community -- Moab # 2021 Sometimes, especially in a small town, Lodge members and especially Lodge Officers, worry about the image their towns' people, civic leaders and the community as a whole, have of the Elks Lodge. But once you open yourself and your Lodge to what Elks are TRULY all about, slowly the community will change their perception of "that building on the hill". Moab Lodge # 2021 is a shining example of this. Members for years have put their best foot forward to be involved in the community and provide whatever support or aid they could. One such event is their annual Christmas baskets. Without the selfless efforts of the members of the Moab Lodge, numerous families and shut-ins would go without the traditional Christmas meal for the holidays and the staples to get them into the New Year. Many members have said the Elks Lodge feels more like family, and many long time members eco that same phrase. One such member from Moab # 2021, Wayne and Ramona Norton, still go out to the Lodge every Friday night for karaoke. They appreciate all of the time and effort that the younger members and officers put into their Lodge, and they are just thrilled to have the Lodge still around. It's what the Lodge does in the community and how it makes them feel that keeps Wayne and Ramona coming back. Meeting new friends and visiting other Lodges is also important to members of Moab Lodge. Whether it be within the state meetings or even all the way to Grand Lodge Convention, Alan Manson loves traveling and learning all about the Elk programs that can help in their community. Louis and Dan say "Ditto". |
